  • BYUI senior Bryan Wilson launches his app Now What? today in Rexburg to help students find local eateries & exclusive Valentine’s deals. The app shows pricing and partnership details to encourage exploring beyond familiar chains.  BYU-Idaho Scroll
  • Rexburg's city ice rink, The Neutral Zone, will celebrate its grand opening on Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 16 with a ribbon-cutting at 2 p.m., a figure skating performance, mascot appearance, interactive games, door prizes, and tours, and public skating discounts until 10 p.m. It is located next to the Rapids waterpark.  East Idaho News
  • Richard Robison, a retired engineer who witnessed the Teton Dam collapse as a child, is advocating to rebuild the dam for better water security and irrigation. He plans to return to Rexburg this summer to mark the 50th anniversary of the disaster and honor his uncle’s legacy.  East Idaho News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A 50-acre mixed-use development will rise near exit 333, bringing 250 housing units, restaurant and retail space to Rexburg as construction for a national chain starts this summer — additional site improvements include new roads and a sewer lift station.   • Yellowstone Teton Territory is accepting applications for funding to help local businesses and organizations boost tourism in Eastern Idaho (eligible applicants should review the guidelines).  The Jefferson Star

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Seventy-five students from Hibbard Elementary and South Fork Elementary visited the Museum of the Henry’s Fork earlier this month to explore local history during an educational tour.  Rexburg Standard Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Idaho Fish and Game Commission approved the purchase of 280 acres to expand the Tex Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA) during its November meeting. The additional land will enhance wildlife habitat and support ongoing conservation efforts.  The Jefferson Star
