- ➤ Ben Watson, a Rexburg man, acquired his family heirloom— a sword that belonged to his fourth great-grandfather, John McAuley, one of the mob leaders who killed Joseph Smith in 1844. He now plans to display the sword in a museum so future generations can learn its history and see how it was turned into an instrument of peace— a symbol of hope, healing and forgiveness.
