CRIME NEWS

  • Shelley police reported that a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 91 near 760 North State Street killed three people when a Ford F150 crossed into a Honda CR-V, with 68-year-old Queta Tolman of Basalt dying Thursday (April 4) at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and a mother and daughter dying at the scene.  East Idaho News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, BYU-Idaho held its end-of-semester fashion show where students from several classes showcased projects ranging from kids’ outfits to bridal gowns. The event featured a live orchestra and food made by the quality food production class and had the theme (Winter’s Reverie) guiding the designs.  BYU-Idaho Scroll
  • Yesterday, BYU-Idaho hosted high-energy events on Friday night as students paid $3 for about 15 minutes of crate climbing—an event that drew many on campus—and played free-for-all laser tag until 11 p.m. In the climbing event—where a student set a record by stacking 19 crates—secure harnesses kept participants safe during the activity.  BYU-Idaho Scroll

HEALTH NEWS

  • Eastern Idaho Public Health will offer free, confidential STI/STD testing at all its offices during April. The Rexburg office is located east of Dairy Queen at 314 N. 3rd E. and is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.—appointments can be scheduled by calling 208-522-0310.  BYU-Idaho Scroll
  • Residents at The Homestead Senior Living enjoy daily exercise classes that build strength and improve mobility—Thursday yoga sessions led by Kathy from Namaste Nook Yoga help reduce stress and improve balance.  East Idaho News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Twenty-five local girls basketball players and five coaches received All-State honors after teams from Rockland, Sugar-Salem, and Pocatello claimed state titles on April 4. District 5-6 schools led the 4A selections with seven players earning honors (including three from undefeated Sugar-Salem) and awards were spread across six classifications (compiled by statewide coaches).  East Idaho News
