Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 11th of April.
Good morning, Rexburg.
🚨 Crime
A Madison County man pleaded guilty to felony driving under the influence and will serve 43 days in jail—his four-year prison sentence suspended in favor of probation.
Over the past month, four wrong-way driver incidents on U.S. Highway 20—including one on March 30 when Rexburg Police stopped a drunken teen within minutes of being alerted and another in December where a driver blacked out after drinking, causing serious injuries—have led ITD and Rexburg Police to urge the public to report these drivers immediately rather than trying to stop them.
🏛️ Government
Governor Brad Little selected St. Anthony resident Mark Chandler to serve as Fremont County commissioner and he will succeed Kamachi.
ITD and local law enforcement met to discuss wrong-way drivers at Thornton Interchange—saying current roadside signs do not feature eye-catching language to deter drunk driving—and reviewed the issue.
