COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Barbra, an 85-year-old Rexburg resident, cleans highways to keep roads tidy and show her faith. She hopes local groups like JustServe (a volunteer organization) will join her efforts on I-15 and near the golf course.  BYU-Idaho Scroll
  • Commemorative events for the Teton Dam Disaster will take place this week as community organizers host memorial services — including exhibits and talks — to honor local history and educate residents.  Rexburg Standard Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Thursday, May 28, Hindu statesman Rajan Zed spoke at BYU-Idaho’s Interfaith Leadership Society meeting in the John Taylor Building (room 105), where 52 attendees learned about Hinduism as he answered questions and shared insights about faith.  BYU-Idaho Scroll
  • Rexburg began Flood 50 week-long celebrations Monday to mark the 50th anniversary of the Teton Dam burst; the events include a Classic Car Show on Center Street, a 70s Flashback Fashion Show at the Romance Theater, walking tours and service projects through the week.  Local News 8
  • BYU-Idaho’s Theatre Department will perform the musical adaptation of 'The Lightning Thief' in Snow Drama Theatre (room 115) on June 9 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for nonstudents, with additional showtimes from June 9 to 13, June 16 to 18, and on June 20.  BYU-Idaho Scroll
