Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 16th of May.
Good morning, Rexburg.
🎓 Education
BYUI professor Mike Christopherson hosts his 'Education of the Heart' podcast to show students how to learn by moving knowledge from their heads to their hearts — he records unedited episodes at the end of each semester in his office.
The podcast gives students a chance to share why education matters and helps him connect with those who rarely speak up in class.
🏛️ Government
Madison Library District trustee seats A and B — where incumbent Tony Derricott faces challenger Maggie Clarke and incumbent Kristine Ballard faces Ethan Sanford — will be contested on May 20.
Polls will open in every precinct as early voting, which began on May 5, continues to provide residents a choice.
🏈 Sports
Several District 5-6 softball teams began their state championships with mercy rule wins on Thursday.
The Pocatello Thunder defeated the Jerome Tigers 12-0 and the Malad Dragons beat Firth 14-4, while the Highland Rams, Teton Timberwolves and North Fremont Huskies also won and will meet opponents Friday for championship and consolation spots.
